HOW WE DEVELOPED THE CODECLUB.THS STEM PROGRAM

According to African Development Bank (AFDB) 263 Million young people in Africa will lack an economic stake by 2025.

Report from the National Bureau of Statistics states that Nigeria currently has over 21 million people unemployed. A great majority of this people are youths. This high unemployment rate and poor leadership is driving many young people to a life of cybercrime (Yahoo Yahoo) and irresponsibility.

The only viable solution is to equip young people with digital skills and empower them with knowledge for life in a technology future.

The Alumnus set of 92 in partnership with our organization LearnHub.Africa designed a program for the Students of THS, tagged CodeClub.THS

This program has impacted the lives of many students in the DSC Technical High School.. Such as

  • Oreva *Guy in Canada
  • Ochuks
  • Destiny
  • Ebuka
  • Adjugah Blessing
  • *Any Girl we can site

The CodeClub program has been truly valuable, and has helped to position many students for career success into the future. We believe we can make this program even more impactful to reach more students within the school and environs.

This is why we have come up with project: STEMS, which is an acronym for Student Teach, Empower & Mentor Students.

Through project STEMS, we want to engage students and make them fit as leaders and solution providers for the Nation.

We will select students who have demonstrated commitment and progress in their learning, and further equip them to become ambassadors and tutors to their other classmates. We have already tested a small scale version of this program, and the result has been wonderful.

The skills of focus we will covering in this program include;

  • Animation,
  • Robotics
  • Web Design
  • Cyber Security

We believe via the STEMS project, where students will be trained to teach their fellow students, we can set a new paradigm for the building of future leaders and innovators in Nigeria.

We require your support to make this project successful. We are looking to raise $2400 as a startup cost for this program. This cost will help us cover for the purchase of fairly used PCs, internet subscription, and a little stipend for the volunteer instructors who will lead this program.

We are sharing this video with you because we believe, that with your support, we can build the future for many young people starting from the students of DSC THS.
